Willoughby "Bill" Payne Taylor, Jr, age 86 of Hickory, NC, passed peacefully into Heaven on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. He was born on February 26, 1931 in Ashland, VA to the late Willoughby Payne Taylor, Sr. and Gladys Bagby Melton Taylor.Bill attended Randolph Macon College and proudly volunteered to serve in the US Navy Air Corps during the Korean War. Gene Carpenter subsequently took over the management position until his retirement in 1991. Ron Swift, an employee of Hickory since 1965, began managing daily operations after Mr. Carpenter’s retirement.
